Welcome to Knowly: Building the school that adapts to your child.

American education is going backwards. We are not going to argue about that. We are going to build the answer.

This is the first thing we want every parent to know: the system your child is being asked to learn in is failing them in measurable, documented ways. The 2024 National Assessment of Educational Progress showed continued decline in 4th and 8th grade math scores from 2019 peaks. Only one in three high school seniors is now academically prepared for college-level math. A generation of children is being trained to use chatbots to finish their work — and trained, in the same motion, that the work itself does not matter.

The classroom model cannot fix this. Not because teachers are not trying. Because the math does not allow it. A teacher with twenty-two students cannot find twenty-two different learning edges in real time, every day, in every subject. The assembly line breaks down when the parts move at different speeds. Every child moves at different speeds.

We are building Knowly because there is a way out of this — and it is not new. Fifty years of cognitive science research already identified what works. Bloom proved in 1984 that students who receive one-to-one mastery instruction perform two standard deviations above their classroom peers — the 98th percentile. Roediger and Karpicke showed that the child has to generate the answer themselves for it to stick. Cepeda and a hundred others have confirmed that what is not spaced and retrieved is forgotten within days.

The reason this evidence has not become the way every child learns is one thing: it has been economically impossible to give every child a one-to-one human tutor for six hours a day. Until now.

What Knowly is

Knowly is a native desktop application — installed directly on your family's Windows or Mac computer — that delivers one-to-one mastery instruction to your child, every day, in the subjects that matter. It does not use cartoon characters, points, or badges to make learning "fun." It makes children think. Thinking hard at the right level is genuinely satisfying. Your child will feel it.

When the application is open, your child sees the lesson and nothing else. No browser to escape to. No path to a chatbot, a social feed, or a video. No twelve-year-old will work around it in twenty minutes — it is a notarized desktop application with operating-system-level control, the same class of software as VS Code or Figma.

Inside that focused environment, the platform finds your child's exact current ceiling — not "weak in fractions," but consistently finds the common denominator correctly and does not convert the numerator — and teaches from there. It requires the child to write by hand for the work that should be done by hand. It will not advance until the child has actually demonstrated mastery, in multiple formats, over time. And it brings every mastered concept back at expanding intervals until that knowledge is permanent.

The morning is for the work. The afternoon belongs to your family.

What Knowly costs — honestly

$109* per student per month for the platform. Families enrolling through a participating co-op receive a 10% discount. The curriculum your family uses is purchased separately, from the publisher of your choice. Knowly is the teacher. The curriculum is the curriculum. We are honest about this from the first conversation.

* Effective monthly cost based on the standard 81 days off per year.

There is no free tier. We do not believe in hobbled products. Every enrolled child gets the full Knowly experience.

Who we are building this for

Knowly is for the families who already homeschool and want the academic side of it to be rigorous, individualized, and supported by something stronger than a YouTube curriculum. It is for the families who have not yet started homeschooling but are watching their child fall behind in a school that cannot stop and reteach. It is for the families who are pulling their child out mid-year because something has to change. We accept new families in any month of the year — your child does not have to wait until September.

We are launching in August 2026, starting in North Carolina. Early access is open now. If you are reading this and you have a child who deserves a real education, tell us about them. We are building this for you.
